Re: steering wheel help

You need a steering wheel puller. The big nut kind of presses the steering wheel onto the splined shaft. They are really inexpensive at any parts store or hardware store. I have them at my hardware store for $6.99.

Re: steering wheel help

Not that I know of. If you have the signal lever with the windshield wiper controls on it that's about the easiest way. In fact you may have to take out the wheel lock plate that is below the steering wheel too. If so you may need another tool, which is also real cheap, or you can do it by pushing down on the plate and taking the keeper ring off the steering shaft. However for the hassle and cost of the tool, BUY THE TOOL! makes it so much easier. Once you get that off you will be able to see the signal switch and there is a little piece in there that works the high beam part of the switch. Sounds complicated, but once you get into it, it's really not.

Re: steering wheel help

Autozone will rent u the puller for free. I have done it a million times on Saginaw columns and it only takes a few minutes. The hardest part is removing the damm C clip retaining thing that holds the locking plate on. But i think they make a tool to do it. I just use two screw drivers.

used to have a good link but can't find it no more.......

Re: steering wheel help

Pull the steering wheel and then there should be a black plastic cover over the locking plate . The plate meay have to come off but I do not remember . The turn signal rod just has a screw holding it to the turn signal switch . You will needd a puller to remove the wheel . I have sen them come off by pulling real hard on the wheel and tapping the center stud with a hammer but it will result in a nosebleed or worse when it lets loose .
