Another "another one followed me home" thread!

So the wife is just waiting to say "i told you so" but I went and bought another truck today. This will hopefully turn a little profit and the lady selling it seemed to be having a bad month with a separation an all...

69 C-10, plain jane except for the side molding (only on one side now), V8 still TBD,

The good:
about $700 in newer engine parts on it (new Edelbrock carb, intake, fuel pump plus an MSD coil, wires and box)
new tires, recent PA inspection (don't ask me how that happened),
newer aftermarket tailgate,
new alternator and water pump
clear title
good hood, grille, bed is so so...has plastic liner
brakes work
new cab mounts
floor is solid, one patch a few years ago
new tinted slider
nice seat
$50 box of weatherstripping

The bad:
it's stuck in third gear after her ex husband removed the column shift for a floor shift.
rust above the sun visors and driver door
one control arm looks rusted out
oil pan leaking

Plans are to fix the tranny linkage, clean it up a little and flip it. If it doesn't sell by May then she'll get parted.

Re: Another "another one followed me home" thread!

next question is why would it be stuck in third if the linkage isn't the issue? ways to fix?

Re: Another "another one followed me home" thread!

probably has the shift forks in a bind. or Could be a syncro broke and jamming the shifter up. I would remove the linkage and start from the trans and work my way thru the shifter.

Hey Mike it looks like it could be a cool driver just a few patches and I would roll in it.

I'm still trying to decode the block. I it's a U5 suffix code... what's that?

good advice, i'll be looking into it this weekend. There are a few 3 speeds for sale in my area as well so it might get swapped in the end.

This would even make a dump in Miami Big AL! Rust is a bad cancer and this 40 year old mama might not make it another 40...

Re: Another "another one followed me home" thread!

Since this thing has nice tires and rusty rims how do you think these will look for $50?

Where did you find those slots for 50$ Is that each or for the set. If you got the whole set for 50$, I'll give you 75 for 'em! Looks like a good project.
