Why no lights in my 69 sidemarkers?

I have wondered why mu sidemarker reflectors do not light up? They look like other that have holes/bulbs and light up, but mine do not have the holes on the backside and no wiring-is this a late 68 or what? I thought starting in 68 all sidemaker lights had to be lite. anyone...

It was an option. Only having reflectors was required until late 69/early 70.

Re: Why no lights in my 69 sidemarkers?

all you'll need is the light "pigtails". then tie them into the existing marker and/or directonal lights. Try some of the board supporting vendors.

Mine had no bulbs/sockets either and no wiring. I bought me sockets and wired them up, took a short time to do. Then you get the clear lenses with colored bulbs....sweet!

Re: Why no lights in my 69 sidemarkers?

federal mandate in 68 on cars, not till 70 on pickups with a bed. A cab chassis truck with daul rear wheels was required to have the 4 side marker lights and the roof mounted markers and ID lights. GM did it as a required option (at added cost) when the daul rear wheel option was ordered.
