rocker adjustment
I have a chevy 350 stroked, and I had a machine shop build me a set of heads. I also put in new lifters.
I put them on,and adjusted the stock rockers by the book. It started right up, and sounds great except it sounds like the lifters are tapping against the cam, should I tighten the rockers more, or is it normal? It didn't sound as noisy as this before, did I do something wrong? and can I damage the cam if I go too tight? would love some advise Thx Eric in phoenix |

I'm no expert but, hydraulics right, when the engine is hot, I have always backed off until they clatter, run down slowly until quiet, and then add 1/2 turn CW. I believe a Motors Manual will tell you to go one turn after quiet. To prevent the mess, you can use pushrod clips, or better a cut out valve cover with a good gasket so you can keep your motor and compartment clean. Other more experienced may offer other advice. This has been fine on my stock and reworked SBC's
