difference between 71 and 69 c10?

As mentioned in an earlier topic I imported a 71C10 truck into Holland a few months ago. Now I have trouble with the department of transportation because the inspectors doubt if my VIN is correct. They found a sticker with a different VIN number in the glove box door then the VIN on the tag in my door post and on the title. The one in the glove box door says the truck is from 69 and I will have to convince them it is a 71 and not a 69 as the VIN number in the glovebox door says.

Now my question is if you guys can tell me if a 71 truck has specific differences with a 69 truck which are not interchangable. So f.a. is it at all possible to put a 71 front in a 69 truck, or change the lights on the fenders from the 69 to 71 lights, or put disc brakes on a 69 truck. Because I know disc brakes only came on trucks from 71 and later.
Or if you have other things that can prove 100% that it is a 71 and not a 69 truck.

I would like to add some pictures but cannot find out how that works. Maybe some other time !!

Thanks for all information !!

Anton.

Yes everything is interchangeable with these trucks sounds like you got one that had some parts donated to a restoration.

There is one other place the vin is stamped on these trucks and that is the frame on the hump by the steering box. I would check there and see which it goes to. Hopefully it is the same as either the cab of the glovebox door.

Now for the inspectors the spid is just a piece of paper that is there and can come off.

They should note that the one on the glove box door could easily have come from another truck when changing the glove box door. Go off the tags in the door jam for the cab's original VIN. It's a stamped piece of metal riveted to the truck, much harder to just swap for any reason in it's past than a sticker on glove box door that's held on by a few screws.

In Holland, what does the title stay with, the frame or cab?

the rear view mirror inside the cab, in 69, the metal it is mounted on over the windshield is flat, in 71 it is a raised pad stamped in the sheet metal.
In 71, they went to a throttle cable instead of a metal rod.. not an easy conversion to do properly
I'm pretty sure 71 was the first year for a vent in the drivers side door jamb by the VIN plate.

The raised pad above the windshield for the rearview mirror, and the vent valves in the door jambs would be the best evidence for your cause because a '69 will not have them.
