Red face topless pic

I am taking the wife and kids to the beach tomorrow and got a pic of the k-5 without the top. I had to take it today and have an exhaust leak welded up. On a good note, I ordered my soft top today. Bad news is they say it will take three weeks to get it.

I chose Kayline soft tops. There was a review of this top over on the colorado k-5 site, and it got very good marks. They said no leaks, and used a decibal meter for the road noise. The noise was actually a little higher with the hard top than it was with the Kayline top.

I think my wife is getting tired of helping me lift the hard top off

I had a 74 K-5 Blazer that had the fully removable top. That was a PITA to get on and off but it was great in the summer time

That is a sharp looking ride!
I thought many times about converting mine to two wheel drive and slamming it, but after my trip to the beach yesterday, I have changed my mine.

When we first got to the beach, My friend got his new chevy truck stuck trying to get onto the beach. The first part is always real soft sand and I told him if he got stuck, that is where it would be.
I got him pulled out and we started driving down the beach.

A lady and her small daughter started flagging me down. She explained to me that she was stuck on the beach, and needed help. When we got to her VAN! It was a Chevy conversion, buried to the exhaust. They had been digging for two hours trying to get this thing out. I started sweating, I didn't know if I was going to be able to get this thing out.
To top it all off, she said she had another small child that was sick in the van and was on her way to a Galveston hospital. She thought she would cut through and show the kids the water on the way to the hospital, and there she was.
Anyways, to make a long story short (too late)
I hooked up and pulled her out with no problem at all. I followed her all the way out to the entrance, pulling her out a couple more times. We got her on her way after she thanked us, and gave my kids some candy.

Man it feels good when you can help someone out like that.

Very nice rig, I have that same wheel on my 98.
If you don't mind me asking what part of town do you live in? I have tons of family in Paris and I'm there all the time. My cuz works at Kimberly Clark and his father in law does paint out in Blossom.

Thanks for the compliments guys. One thing good about white paint it hides some of the bad spots, especially in pictures. The truck has some bubble spots in the normal places rust likes to start. Truck was originally that nasty green they seemed to love so much in early 70's It was painted white in 93 by previous owner but they did not paint inside or under the hood so I still have a few reminders of the green left. The carpet, dash, seats were all green also. I have redone all those. Dash and door panels recovered with leather-match material and a rear leather seat from a 98 Suburban installed. Only thing I hate about the wheels are how high the centercaps were. I lost one on a trip once and new one was close to $70 just for the screw in cap. Also the back wheels need widened. They originally came on my 87 Grand National when I bought it.

I actually live outside Paris about 12 miles. The friend I traded my GN to works at KC.

CRRroy you trying to say you dont think us 2wd owners could have pulled the van out? lol just kidding

Brad

I like the look of these trucks sitting on the ground, but I also like having 4x4 when I need it.

Maybe I could slam my truck, and still find a way to fit 33x12.5 M/T's under it.
That would be awesome except for that ground clearance thing.

I guess I will just keep on envying you guys while I am on the street, and being happy with my 4x4 off-road.

Actually I may be the owner of a 87 GMC 2wd swb very soon which if my niece wants to swap I will swap it for her 86 Chevy 4wd swb. Then I can have best of both worlds but in two different rides. Heres the 4wd.
