Ignition Switch: Loose key and the post drillbit aftermath...
Searched the forum and found LockDoc's post and website about how to get an ignition switch removed without a proper key. I have ran this truck since 1994 with a crappy True Value replacement key, and it was so worn out that it wouldn't stay in the ignition. Might as well not have a key at all. The problem was I couldn't get another reground since the key I had was so well worn, so I ordered a replacement set including the doors, ignition and keys from Early Classic when I bought my drop kit.
Fast forward to today when I got time to do this, I started with the doors, and completed them pretty uneventfully. Time for the ignition, and I couldn't make ANYTHING work. I was at it for hours... Believe me I spent about 45 minutes all over this site today trying to find anything that would help me. I finally resorted to the drillbit method since I do not own a Sawzall, and I ended up stripping out the threads on the bezel in the process. I found a replacement ignition switch locally, but no one carries the bezel, so I got online. Has anybody ordered one, and are they pretty universal as far as threads and fitment go, or are they no longer available? http://http://www.brotherstrucks.com...number=BR10027 http://http://www.earlyclassic.com/catalog.aspx Go under "Dashboard Components", it is PN 05-3918893, on the second page
