stepside box swap
is the box (long step) from a 55 the same as a 63 ? I'm told how they bolt to the frame is a bit different but easy to remedy. Any differences that I should be aware of ? A catalog I have lists after market steps for 55-59 and then jumps to 67-72.

Re: stepside box swap
I am pretty sure the bed , fenders, and steps are the same 55-66, the only differences are inside the bed, with reference to the amount of bed strips and wood, and where the cross sill mount to the frame for the different years.

Re: stepside box swap
The stepside beds are the same from '55-'66, mainly the fenders are the same. One difference that I am aware of is in the '55-'59 era there was a 7'6" stepside bed available......I used to have one.

Re: stepside box swap
It's all the same, short and long, except for the two things listed above. The amount of strips and the frame mount locations will differ with the track width of the frames.
I will tell you that a 64-66 truck will accept a 67-72 step box very well, mounting to the frame is about the same I'd say......

Re: stepside box swap
The best way to determine it is to measure the track width for a '55 pickup..... If you can't get it on here, maybe I'll measure our '57. I know for a fact that 60-62 and 63-66 differ in track width, but a 55-59 might be different than your 63. In any case, it isn't too difficult to remedy the bed-frame mounting.
