Headlight knob?
I am in the process of dismantling my '71 chev getting it ready for paint. Does anyone have any suggestions on removing the headlight knob without cutting it off? Thanks in advance.

Reach in behind the dash.....on top of the headlight switch there's a little button.....pull the headlight knob to the on position....press the little button down and pull the knob out.....wa la!!!...

Remember to disconnect the battery (or at least unplug the headlamps) or you'll have a dead battery.....

FYI....I know you said you are painting the truck, BUT if the battery is still in it, disconnect it so the headlights don't drain it!!!

dont know if it's just me but it seems theres always a need for bandaids after removing headlight knob

 Must be just you....On my truck, the shaft & knob are an assembly, and come out (off) together.
