Side Marker.....Turn Signal?

Was wondering is anyone has converted side marker lights so they would work as a turn signal as well?

Did a search but came up empty.

Would you loose your side marker lights if you wire them to the turn signal wire, or would it just make it blink when the turn signal is on?

If done right, it would be just like the front turn signals.

With the lights on they would be running lights......

Using the turn signals they would be that.............

Has to be wired and use the same 1157 bulb for the front turn signals....

You have to remember, some of these trucks did not blink on the front side markers. I have had 2 70 longhorns, neither had hacked harnesses, yet one blinked, the other does not.
The rear never blinked on any of them.
To make a front marker blink (asuming it does not) You need to run the ground wire from the marker light to the turn signal wire at the front marker light. (parking/turn signal light) When the turn signal is off, the wire will act as a ground, but when it is powered, it interupts the ground, making the side marker blink oposite the front turn signal.
To get the back side marker to blink, you would need to run a wire from the front to the back and wire it the exact same way. If you hooked it up to the rear light, the side marker would go out every time you hit the brakes.

Well, I know somebody was playin around in my wiring, and when I hit the turn signals or 4 ways, the front marker lights flash. But also, when I hit the brakes my rear sidemarkers lite up too.

Turn Signals

I did mine, not a hard task at all. I have a 1972 and all I did was run 2 wires down the inside of the frame rail. One from the front driver side marker, to the rear driver side marker, use that wire as your power to your rear light. Repeat this on the other side and bang. No problems at all. I have parking lights all around and turnsignals. I think it looks sweet with the rear blinking to match the front.
