Check my build thread for quite a few photos, but the wheels I have are 8 and 10 with 4.5 backspacing on all 4 corners.

Isn't the 67-70 rear end narrower than the newer ones? I want to eventually put 10 wides on my 72 step but don't know if 4.5 backspace would stick out. It would only lowered about 3" so I want it to fill the fenders to the outside pretty much to the edge. Anybody have some advice?

Do you have wheels on there now? If so, use them as your baseline measurement & the add/subtract from there to get the answer that's right for your truck. I use cardboard to add width where I need it. Add to the rear to mimic back-spacing. Add to the front to mimic that deep dish look.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Yep, the 67-70 rear is narrower by 3/4 a side which would make a huge difference. I just wonder how many people have bought wheels on advise from this board and then scratch thier head wondering why it doesn't look the same as the truck they were wondering about. I usually mention that I have a 67 rear as I don't like to see people waste time and money on incomplete advise (I did a write up on my build thread) and have tried to get other members to post which rear they have when giving advise about rear backspacing on thier truck as it's a popular topic, but it seems to always fall on deaf ears so I stopped doing it.

I even tried to start a thread for rear wheel spacing...(e.g. Type of bed, which rearend, width of rim and backspacing) as there are a few variables but again they would just post backspacing with no mention of short or long rear.

Re: 15X8's and 15X10's what backspacing

Has anybody noticed this is an old thread brought back up? Did 1lowc10 ever get those wheels? Also it is my understanding that a 15" front wheel with that much backspacing will scrub on the control arm in the lowered position. Is that not the case?

I currently have 73-87 15x8 truck rallys. I have no idea on the offset. They aren't custom or anything. They have 31x10.5 inch tires and if I put wider ones on it it might look better. I don't like how the front sits wider because the axle is narrower than the front. I plan on running a 29x12.5 or 28x12 tire. I'll have to measure when I get to that point. Does anyone know the specs on my current wheels above?

Re: 15X8's and 15X10's what backspacing

Typical truck ralleys are 15x8 w/4" back spacing.

Re: 15X8's and 15X10's what backspacing

So when I eventually get to measuring the wheels couldn't I just add 2 inches to the backspacing measurement as I like the offset I have and the new ones would be 2 inches wider? Because backspace adds to the back right? They sit right at the edge of the fenders now.

That's correct.
