Car 4 speed into a truck?

Anybody done this? or something similiar? T-56? M22?

My friends dad has a M22? out of a corvette, said that he is willing to sell. I have always loved driving the old 4 speed cars. Anybody put on into a truck of this gen? I have a 64 and I think It would be sweet.

Re: Car 4 speed into a truck?

well i'm about to try soon. i have a t10 that i'm going to try out but its going on a 5.3. If you're using a SBC then i suppose you'd be good depending on what bellhousing you want to use. i'm pretty sure an m22 from a vette is the same as the rest of them.

This isn't hard. My friends and me have all run four speeds in our trucks. You can use any bellhouding, but you need to buy or build a tranny crossmember. Also, the shifter comes through the floor almost under the seat, but if you use an angled stick and face it forward, it clears the seat quite nicely.

Re: Car 4 speed into a truck?

My '64 has a Muncie outta a '65 Chevelle. The stick does come out right at the seat so a straight stick wont work. I'm not sure about the modifications done though as it was like that when I bought it.

Re: Car 4 speed into a truck?

well i attempted the T56 (6 spd) and i would not suggest it for any type of budget build unless you can find a ls1/t56 combo for cheap... with any other motor its a crankshaft to driveshaft and up the floor board Remodel.

Simply put theres alot more than just a bell housing.

Holy Smokes, Chuluota is too close to home.

Re: Car 4 speed into a truck?

I have an M21 in my '63. I used a Hurst Competition Plus shifter and a Hurst truck shifter arm. It clears the bench just nicely, but the seat has to be all the way back or you won't get 2nd and 4th gear.
Greg.

Re: Car 4 speed into a truck?

I put a Saginaw 4-Speed from a Nova in my '65 before I got the TKO. All I did was change the driveshaft. I had one cut and rewelded at a shop. I didn't put a rear cross member on it, but it really needed one. It would have broken if I had beat on it any more than I did.

Re: Car 4 speed into a truck?

i figured the t56 would be too long, I don't really want 6 gears...haha

Does anybody have any pictures of their shifters? maybe the linkages?

I have no problem making a crossmember for it.

D10sc10...holy crap you are might close. Whats your truck look like? Maybe I've seen you around?

Hey Greg...by chance do you have the part numbers on the shifter and arm ?? I'm thinking about a 4-speed instead of the 700R4.

Re: Car 4 speed into a truck?

Yeah, I used the stock bell housing. I have bucket seats,so the shifter wasn't a problem.

Re: Car 4 speed into a truck?

yeah maybe its a black c10 short box on 20 inch rims its on snowhill right now with a broke rear end and 2 twisted drive shafts.

the truck spends 98% of its time sitting broke. im about to make a it a military class mud truck.
