Another conversion question
Can suspension off of an 84 blazer be mounted on a 68 frame? Spring mounts shackles etc.. Rear spring mounts shackles etc... Are the fames the same width or will spring perches need to be relocated. I truly apologize if this has been asked before but I havent had luck searching.

Re: Another conversion question
On what trucks did the 52 inchers come from? I am looking into the kit from diy4x.com. But just to clarify, if I go in a different direction(the 84 blazer) everything will unrivet and bolt in place on my 68 shortbase frame? It is 1/2 ton stuff. And does 700 bucks for all the stuff sound about right? Front and rear diffs, springs, perches, shackles, transfer case? All of the above. I really have searched the whole 4 by board and havent seen another thread that covers this or I wouldnt be asking,
Thanks!!!! |

Re: Another conversion question
73-87 trucks and up to 91 K5's have 52" rear springs. The only thing that is gonna bolt in is the fgb52 kit.........everything else gonna have to be made to work.

Re: Another conversion question
So I think I have pretty much figured out the front, now I have questions bout the rear. Do I basically mount the bed in place, then center up the rear end between the fenderwells, or is there a set of measurements on here that I have just overlooked that will get my rear suspension where it needs to be. I'm trying to understand which way to go with the rear, stock leaf truck stuff or fab up a rear out of a later truck.
Thanks for all the info guys. |

Re: Another conversion question
You really dont even need the bed on it to center the rear axle. All im gonna do is mark the frame at the center of the bumpstops and plumbob down to the axle from there and center it up.

Re: Another conversion question
How long are the front springs on a 91 suburban? Does the park brake cable hole still interfere with the rear shackle location if I use these? Thanks!
