Re: Retrofit a 350

i think it will bolt in place of the 292 just fine. the reason i say i think is because i remember reading somewhere that the passenger side motor mount is further back on the 292, but i could be wrong. it will bolt to your 4 speed with no problems. if its a good running 350 the only thing i would do is change the rear seal before dropping it in. im sure someone will chime in and let you know about the motor mounts.
good luck,
John

Re: Retrofit a 350

Throw a K&N filter on her and a set of headers and run the wheels off her!

Yeah, one of the motor mounts will not work can't remember which one. You will have to find another mount to drop the motor in correctly. Try pming littlered, he can tell you which one you will need.

Re: Retrofit a 350

You should be able to just move the frame mount to the forward position (same as the other side) and bolt it down, and drop in the 350. That 350 will bolt up to your SM420 just fine, but you could swap to the newer SM465 if you wanted to. I agree on the rear main seal, water pump (your truck originally came with a short water pump) a set of headers, a K&N air filter, an HEI distributor, an aluminum intake and a good 4bbl carb of your choice.

Re: Retrofit a 350

If your block will accept it you should be able to use the 283 mounts and all will be fine! They are the same size blocks.
