Question Firewall plug to cover clutch hole?

Does anyone know where I can buy a plug for the firewall where the clutch linkage went through?

Re: Firewall plug to cover clutch hole?

If you want an original good luck. The plug was made out of a grey plastic.

When it got too hot from the engine it warped and fell out.

That style plug was only made in 69 and 70.

71 and 72 had a bolt on cover. Very easy to find. If you dont need to be 100% correct you can find one easy.

I have a extra clutch rod delete plate. $13.00 plus USPS shipping. I can get pictures today after work. LMK if interested.

Re: Firewall plug to cover clutch hole?

If you aren't bulding a show truck, you can head to the local hardware store and buy a 1/2 or 3/4 inch long bolt with a couple of washers large enough to cover hole. Then just tighten that sucker up.

If you are worried about moisture or fumes you could apply some silicon to the inside of both washers before the install.

I had several holes in my firewall on my 67 and I didn't want to just stuff them with plastic or rubber plugs. I am planning to pull my engine this summer and I will probably weld them all shut at that time, but this has been a great short term solution for me.

I didn't know they used plastic though `70. That would explain why he has no screw holes...Thought they were all metal.
