frame perches for cab mounts. Will these fit?
I am currently assembling a short bed frame for my 66 pickup and have a problem. My cab mounts on both the short bed frame that I got from my parts truck and the ones on my 66 are rotted. I am wondering if these 67-72 units from brotherstrucks will fit. any feedback will be much appreciated. Here is a link to brothers' cab mounts page:http://www.brotherstrucks.com/products.asp?dept=919

How bad are the mounts, the only bad part on my mounts was the hole, they were about 2in, so I cut out the bad and welded in some new metal with, I think a 3/4in hole. Then again the rest of the mount was ok.

An easy repair is to weld a 3" diameter structural washer to the top of the mount, located to line up with the cab mount holes.

Re: frame perches for cab mounts. Will these fit?
The holes are the problem with mine as well, I was just thinking that I may go ahead and put some fresh metal in place since my welding resources are slim. I have a nice lincoln buzz box, but I dont have a 220 outlet that I can use it on (which was very smart come to think of it lol). If it were not for that, I could probably solve my problem by cutting the holes large enough for some huge washers and butt welding them into place.

it is cheap and easy to run a 220 plug......if you know how
shouldn't cost too much to have it done by a pro...

.....being the electrician in my group of gear-head friends I have made a few 220v extension cord/J-boxes for welder use.

come to think of it, I could probably torch the things together, since my torch kit did come with a welding tip. but Im not sure how structural the weld would be.
