On my 1971 C10 my hood on the hinge side close to the driver stickes up about 1 inch. you can push it down to fit flush with the body but after driving it just does it again. Does anyone have a idea how to fix this?

I'd like to know this too.
I have the same problem but it does it on both sides. After a while it will push the back of the hood up and the front down so much I cant get my fingers under the front to pop the hood.

Need new hinges. I replaced the springs on mine hoping to fix the problem but it needs hinges.

Try adjusting first, I think the back of the hinge needs to go lower, but you'll have to play with it. If that doesn't work then new or good used hinges should do it as mentioned.

agree with white72c10.. mine did that when i had the hood on... they just get weak... new hinges will go on mine when im ready to put hood on

My sons 72 use to do that and i loosen the bolts on the hinge that go to the fender.I then pushed the hood as far up as it would go and tighten the bolts it worked.The hood set even then.Ithink I learned that from this site somebody else did it.

There's an adjustment procedure somewhere in the FAQ section. The same thing boogie67 mentioned. I've done it on three different trucks, and it worked every time. You are essentially pre-loading the springs so the hood pops up a bit when you press the hood release lever. It will lower the rear of the hood at the same time.

Try it, it may work for you too.

After my old hinges broke, I bought a set of used ones (VERY BAD IDEA). I bought some new ones and they work a lot better. After installing these though, it stuck up about 1/2", so I tried the alignment trick noted in the posting above. It actually lays flat, and aligns better, but I still have to push the corners down to get it to line up with the cowl. I did notice that these new hinges seem "stiff" and the hood has a lot of flex when opening and closing. Is this normal? Would it help to lube the hinges more?

On another note, now that it has new hinges, the hood doesn't line up with the crooked front end

I was able to buy new springs and then adjust the old hinges a bit on a 68 I had.... fixed it right up.

Lube em up, I used WD-40. They'll loosen up.

Not sure about your question.

But, you can adjust the hood fore/aft by loosening the bolts on the "hood" side of the hinge.
As an example,if one side of the hood is too far back & not lining up with the front of the truck; loosen the bolts a bit & move the trailing edge of the hood "up" which would be forward, if the hood were closed.
It's not as difficult as it sounds. After replacing most of the front end sheet metal on my Chevy (with a lot of help from a few friends) I had to do the hood adjustment(s) alone. It took me maybe an hour to get the rear edge aligned with the cowl and the front of the hood lined up with the front of the fenders.
The air ratchet was a great help on that little project.

Just talked to Willie and they will be at Charlotte in April. He said they have set's of hinges already made up for exchange for your old ones. They are $150.00 with exchange for the Chrome looking ones with used springs. Springs are black, chome or plain metal your choice.

YOu are going to have to adjust the fenders to line-up with the hood. The hood is in a fairly un-changeable place. It has to align with the cowl and sit squarely. The fenders just full the space between. Get the hood right and move the fenders to meet.
