Re: I guess I should post my build thread on my '69 C10 now...
Yeah, I did end up finding that stainless works sells them for $40+ each plus shipping. No thanks...
So, I went ahead of bought some 6x6", 1/2 thick, mild steel plates to make my own. Now I just gotta wait until I can into my dad's shop to use the torch cutter, hole saw, and drill press....

Re: I guess I should post my build thread on my '69 C10 now...
Okay guys, time for an update.
The swap is 99% complete. I ran into some harness issues with the DBW setup, but everything is fine now. I ended up using the F-Body headers afterall. I had to notch the frame on the passenger side, trim the lower control arm on the drivers side, and move the collector extension on the drivers side to make them fit, but they do fit now. I will still need to plug the passenger side o2 bung and add another else where due to the frame being in the way. I still have to figure out some kind of shifter setup, I'd prefer to use the stock type column shifter, but the headers are in the way. So it looks like I might be going the floor shifter route. Next weekend I'll be trying to mockup some kind of exhaust to make it at least alittle street able. More updates soon guys.

Re: I guess I should post my build thread on my '69 C10 now...
Luckly I know how to do most of these things myself. It really helps keeping the cost of my projects down. But compared to shoe-horning a big block Chevy 454 into my Datsun Z car this swap was easy, although not nearly as unique.
The truck is very likely to remain in suede for a few years. Mostly due to the fact that the cab needs corners, rocker panels, and one floor patch. Body work is something I do not enjoy and will enlist a few friends in that phase. I have a rear roll pan, marker fill patches, and bed stake hole patches that will get installed along the way prior to years waiting for paint. My next step will be swapping out my 6 lug, 4 wheel manual drum brakes for 5 lug, 4 wheel power disc brakes using GM factory parts (for ease of replacement later). At the same time I will ditch my 'Dukes of Hazzard' AR Vectors for some Boss 338 (TTII knock off's) in 18x8.5" & 18x9.5" wheels. After that I will start fixing the interior up mixing classic original with modern upgrades. Of course a carpet kit will be in order, but using modern plush velour or tweed. I'll be keeping analog gauges, but I plan on replacing the factory gauges with Auto Meter pieces. Then the factory column w/shifter will be getting a nice paint job and a billet aluminum dress-up kit. The seat will likely remain a '73-'87 bench recovered in soft leather using '67-'72 floor mounts to get a ride height that isn't too high (or stiff) like the factory seat, but not too low like the '73-'87 seat with matching floor mounts. Lastly for the interior I'll be hiding the CD/MP3 player in the glove compartment due to my factory original uncut dash.

Well she runs and drives. Jeez this motor had uncanny torque and throttle response, its hard not to break the tires loose....at 30 mph.
Just ordered my headlight adjustment stuff so I can drive at night....

Hey Cable, recognized you from Team Chevelle. I'm contemplating a similar LSx swap for our 71 SWB. Anyway, looking forward to seeing how yours turns-out.

Mine runs and drives on the LSx power. I drove it all last weekend and I am avg 20-22 mpg, which I can deal with. I just got my Federal return and just blew $1500 in an afternoon on the truck. Lots of odds and end, but most importantly disc brakes... Before the end of March I'll have my front power disc brakes on, rear air bag setup completed along with my ECE adjustable track bar, shock relocators, and I should have tires on my chrome 17" Escalade wheels and on my truck. Right now I am trying to figure out if I am going to have to build a custom trailer hitch receiver since I am running a rear roll pan. No one seems to make one for '67-'72 for use with a roll pan.

Re: I guess I should post my build thread on my '69 C10 now...
Cable, been busy, but not with anything fun. Been sending all my freetime on our 62. Sounds like you're off to a good start with your truck. The power disc beakes should make the truck much more livable in CA traffic.
I got a lead on a low-mile LQ9 locally. If it's still available, I'm going to pick it up this weekend. Aside from that, I still need to figure out what to do about a fuel tank. The previous owner of my truck welded the cab fill hole, and installed a gas door on the passenger side... unfortunately, I like the stock location better. Anyway, I will be taking the 62 out to Famoso in the not too distant future to test the AFR heads we just swapped. I'll give you a heads-up, in case you're free to meet-up. Wes

Re: I guess I should post my build thread on my '69 C10 now...
Okay, I got my new brake 2.5" drop spindles, 6 lug rotors, calipers, and all the bearings, seals, hoses, etc today.
I also got new tires mounted on my Escalade wheels and got the spacers to get them mounted. Hopefully I'll have time this weekend to get my rear bag setup done along with the front disc brake swap and the power booster installed. Time will tell....

Re: I guess I should post my build thread on my '69 C10 now...
Well I tried finishing up the front disc brake conversion this weekend to no avail. The drop spindles combined with my lowering springs are way too low for my style of driving. So, I bite the bullet and bought the parts I need to convert the front end to an air-ride setup. Just like the rear, it'll be setup on a tankless/compressor less system, just set'em and forget'em.

Re: I guess I should post my build thread on my '69 C10 now...
Okay guys, the truck now rides on air. All 4 corners are now using Air Lift D2600 airbags. A few buddies that have experience with airbag stuff did the work in about 6 hours (including beer and part runs). Everything else came from ***************** and worked awesome. So for about $500 in parts I have a really nice riding truck.

Re: I guess I should post my build thread on my '69 C10 now...
Oh and I have ECE's supertrack bar and shock relocators installed today along with my new Toxic nitro drop shocks.
I also went ahead and ditched the Flowbasters and swapped in a pair of Summit Turbo mufflers instead and have them exiting just in front of the rear tires. I might add a set of late model Camaro Z28 style tips added down the road. But boy what a difference in sound, its nice, smooth, and no drone whatsoever. Next weekend I'll be installing a front sway bar from a '73-'87 1 ton truck with new poly bushings and new ECE sway bar brackets. Then its off to the alignment shop.
