Non leaf spring suspension
Has anybody on here done a custom, non leaf spring suspension on a 4x4? Like a 3 0r 4 link with coils or bags? I would do a search, but I don't know what to search for.

Re: Non leaf spring suspension
go to pirate4x4.com they had a thing on the bottom of the home page about angles and stuff.
I have only helped a little with a 3 and a 4 link front and a 4 link rear its pretty simple if you get the information. o they were coilover suspensions, the bags i have helped with and its only for show(can't wheel) but don't know what you are going for. And if by bags you mean touch the ground, it can't be done.

Re: Non leaf spring suspension
Thats a pretty cool site. As far as bag suspension, I was thinking more along the lines of a Kelderman airride type.

Re: Non leaf spring suspension
I have done a little work with that type of airride, but using peterbuilt bags. i will get some pics tomarrow. Its the same idea of the coilover but it uses a airbag instead of a coil

Re: Non leaf spring suspension
I was going to rock a kelderman type on my dodge diesel and run 35's or 38's and dump the air to get in the truck, load it, at stock hight but still have the hight to run big tires. since then I got older and simpler now the 71 chevy is under the knife and will be a mild 4x4 every day driver that I will enjoy for the next ten years untill I have to do the body work again. the days of drving a 400-500 hp diesel pick up are over. if you post your intentions for the use of this suspention we would love to express objective and informative opinions. good luck with your project. I will need luck to finish mine!

Re: Non leaf spring suspension
The truck that I'm researching for is my 70 Chev. I want to run 35's, and eventually it'll be my everyday work truck. Mostly it'll see highway miles, and pull a enclosed trailer that only weighs about 2500 pounds. Occasionally It'll see a little mud, and we have snow on the ground for about 4 months. I really like the idea of the Kelderman air ride, but I figure I could build one for about the same price as a standard lift kit. I like the idea of having bags in the back at least, for load leveling.

Re: Non leaf spring suspension
if you plan to build a suspension in the end it will be a lot more than a standard 4in kit and still have the bags on the back.
