lifting my 67 2WD.need lots of info

well,i bought a 1967 longbed 2wd small window c10 for 100$ recently,in alright shape,i already bought a 460 lift/292 duration cam and all the goodies for the engine(327).

but i want to lift this sucker.
i know it can be done.
note: i dont care about ride quality,im only 16,and this is only for show, not huge offroading.

i was told tht thuis would work.

front:3/4 springs for like 2" of lift,1-2" coil spacer,3" body lift.

rear"flip the axel under the arms(3") and if need be,i can throw in a coil spacer in the rear.

now,
my goal is for 35's but i do not want to have to do aftermarket a-arms and all that crap,is my lift with all the crap i said going to be enough lift for 35's?
yes,i do have rancho shocks for the front, with coil overs already for the rear.

how does trimming the fender work?dont you have to take out the inner fender, which makes the front fender wobbly and also let crap into the engine bay?

please i really need some advice

Don't take your inner fender out, and it MIGHT clear 35s. But im thinking it'll fit 33s.

i also say dont take out the inner fender. i would honestly say, you should be able to fit 35s with a 3" lift if you DONT flex it. and i do mean no off-roading. i don't think 3/4 ton springs give you much if any lift in the front though. i know the 3/4 ton springs i put in the back of my 71 C10 didnt lift it any

Re: lifting my 67 2WD.need lots of info

what can i do to compensate lift to clear 35's alright?
im not going ot be doing a ton of offroading, but i'd like it ot be able to where i could just cruise on the dirt roads and such,

i just odnt got the $ to put it on a 4x4 frame or anything like that,
go another inch on the body lift?
like a 4" instead of 3?(homemade body lift, dad worked at charlys offroad for 9 years)

what does trimming fenders consist of?you odnt have to take out the inner fenderwell?

Re: lifting my 67 2WD.need lots of info

oh wow, i completly missed the body lift part. with the 3" suspension, and 3" body, you should be able to fit 35s. i have 31s on my C10 with it at stock height. if you want to lift the front, they make 2" lift coil springs for 73-87s that fit in

usually when you trim the fenders, you just cut the bottem corners off. unless you do like vtblazer and trim them off a whole bunch, but i don't really know what he did about inner fenders

Re: lifting my 67 2WD.need lots of info

My truck started as a 2wd and back in the day when I was 16 I wanted a lift as well. Mine was a 3/4 ton and it did sit a lot highr than the 1/2 tons. so the front springs are a good choise. Fabtek makes a 2" lift coil spring you can run as well. I ran a 3" body lift with 33" tires at first, I could of fit 35s with a spacer and still been of off road. I ended up using 2"x3" 1/4 wall tubing, and spacing down my front crossmember, I had to flip the centerlink upside down to correct the steering linkage, but i ran 36" supper swampers with this and the body lift for about 5 years untill I did a 4wd conversion. I also ran some braces from the fram to the bottom of the front crossmember amd mounted a skid plate to it to give it the pre rumnner look. I have some 35mm pics of it some where. If I can find them I will scan them and post them for you....

that would be awesome, happen ot have a pic of the truck as a lifted 2wd by chance?

you just ran 3" body lift and had the 3/4 ton springs(duh, yours was 3/4 i know haha)......what did you do for the rear?axel under arms?

and how hard was the crossmember spacing?
i was considerign that, but i have coil spring/trailing arm rear.idk how to go about that without dumping tons of $ into it??

Re: lifting my 67 2WD.need lots of info

I have a 71 k10 with 31's the front has coil over shocks. its 28 1/2 inches to the top of my stock bumper. if you mesure yours and subtrackt the diffrence of yours with this info you can now use the wheel/lift chart and come up with your hight you will need to be at to run your tires. dont forget about gearing.

this should help with gearing questions http://www.snoman.com/HTML/axlecalc_5a.html
this should help with trans ratio questions
http://forum.snoman.com/viewtopic.php?t=153

good luck

The crossmber spacing was really easy, it cost me a piece of tubing ans some bolts, You could just flip your axle under your trailing arms and that would lift the rearabout 6", the front would be 3" for the springs, and 3" crosmember lift.....

Re: lifting my 67 2WD.need lots of info

You can get in touch with Fabtech, they make a ball joint spacer and coil spring to lift it 3" int he front. I have the ball joint spacer, just not the coils. Good Luck

Re: lifting my 67 2WD.need lots of info

You can use 88-98 lift spindles. They are an advertised 4" lift but on our trucks they are 5" lift. You need 67-68 3/4 ton lower control arm, 88-98 1/2 ton upper and lower ball joints, 88-98 inner and outer tie rods( 67 center link needs to be reemed out to fit newer tie rod ends, and 88-98 rotors and calipers which are available in either 6 or 5 lug to match the rear end you have. I have 5' bulge hanneman fiberglass fenders which allow ample clearance for 35" tires. Mine is a long bed as well and I am pulling the bedsides to give it that prerunner look as well as fenderwell work to clear 35's. Ive been thinking of putting airbags just in the rear so I can adjust the ride heighth to match the front as well as dropping the rear to ease in loading and unloading my dirtbike. I need to get it going as its been on the backburner. especially since their doubling the DMV fees in may here in cali ! I have a dodge dually which is going to cost $920 to register every year so I'm going to sell it after I finish my 70. Or at least thats the plan lol! any questions just ask
