So I got a couple of square bodies on trade this weekend
What are these things worth? I need to get them road worthy again but do plan to sell them once I get them running here in the next few weeks.
1975 Crew Cab Dually 2wd - 454 with a Gear Vendors Overdrive 1978 GMC Jimmy 2wd - 4/6 Drop, Runs Great but has rough interior, relatively rust free but not perfect, needs brakes work very badly! Pics are attached, definitely want feedback. I traded my 76 Longbed pickup for these! Last edited by zimmstoy; 03-22-2009 at 11:46 PM. Reason: Wrong year on the Jimmy - changed from 1982 to 1978 |

Are you sure the Jimmy is an 82? It has an older front clip on it then. It appears to be a 77 or 78.
FYI - WIW post are not allowed by non-subscribers. Nice trucks though.

Re: So I got a couple of square bodies on trade this weekend
i think 78's had a fuel door and the 77's had yellow trim so it might be a 76

Good catch on the 77 trim...I missed that. Who knows what is original on this thing...it's an old truck that appears to have lived a hard life. The 6th digit if the VIN will tell us.

Re: So I got a couple of square bodies on trade this weekend
The Jimmy is a very rust free truck. It was mine a few years ago. The drop is all of the suspension out of my red 77 convertible. These were traded to a friend during my divorce, and then traded back to Scott. When I bought it, the guy almost cried when we were loading it on the trailer, he had owned it since it was just a couple of years old. I am going down to help clean these up in a couple of weeks, so they should be good to go soon. I think the dually would make a great start for a shortbed conversion, especially with the 454 and overdrive.

Glad to help out the site. I have had over 7 67-99 trucks already and the site has been invaluable to me!

Re: So I got a couple of square bodies on trade this weekend
Yes, there may have been some very late build 78 that have the gas door as a rolling model change, but every 78 that I have seen and the ones I own (2 of them) has the fuel cap. My 78's are both July 78 builds from the Flint plant.
Anyway, nice score on the trades to get this back on subject. |

Was that overdrive from the factory? or an aftermarket job? I'd love to get one for my 85 C/10

Gear Vendor units are aftermarket. Great units! That alone raises the value of that dually.
Both vehicles are very nice!

I would be interested in the Jimmy when you get around to turning it. We don't find alot of "un"rusty projects around here.
