Corvette servo does it really work and can it really be installed in truck?
Hey guys, I have an 87 chevy r10 with some basic bolt on mods. It has the 700r4. It shifts good, but I think the shifts are a tad too smooth. I know shift kits are sold for these, but they seem a bit complicated to install. Plus, after being in some trucks with shift kits, I wouldn't want to drive one everyday since I would probably have neck problems.
Seems the corvette servo would do the trick. Ebay has most priced between $10-15 but then there are some which are $50+ and they look entirely the same? Should I stay away from the $10-15 servo? They say these can be installed with the transmission in the truck, but how easy can that really be? Looks like space is somewhat limited. Do these servos really work? I really just want a firmer 1-2 shift, so I don't think I will install the firmer overdrive servo.

the corvette servo works really good. I had that done to the 700 I had in my last truck. I think i'm going to get another for this truck and will do the same thing. If you have any doubt about te $15 servo, go with the more expensive. The one I had was a billet one and supposed to be stronger, I paid about $80 for that. If you're running a bigger cam, think about replacing the converter also.

Oh Yeah, it works real well. If your tranny has a shift kit and corvette servo, the shifts can be real snappy.

Buy one from www.bulkpart.com.
Yes, it's easy to install. Be warned, the band should be adjusted for it. To adjust the band, you need to take the tranny apart. I installed one and killed a tranny. It was a cheap rebuild but either way I was out. |

Is the overdrive servo a good thing to install at the same time? I take it they are in the same location and would probably be easier to install both.
