Exhaust kits

anyone used the exhaust kits from LMC, magnaflow, or summit? how was the installation? which was the best?

We used the Magnaflow kit on a short stepside. It's made for a long box, so you have to do a little cutting at the header collector, but not too difficult. Installation is pretty straightforward with very good quality hangers. Also had to do a little fab work around the Early Classic Super Track bar in the rear. The truck is dropped 6" in the back, so the exhaust was rubbing on the track bar.

Has a nice mellow idle, with a good growl when you get on the pedal.

Totally stainless as well. Can't comment on the other kits, but I see even Thrush has a kit for these trucks now.

I have the LMC duals kit on my 4x4. It's actually made by heartthrob. I did not have any problems with it and the install was easy.

I used the Hooker Headers kit form Jegs, 2.25 inch pipes. The kit came with no mufflers so I got a set of flow master 40 series and couldn't be happier. The passenger side head pipe was in need of a little adjustment but nothing major. I would definitely recommend.

I just finished mine this weekend. i bought the heartthrob kit also and i know a lot of guys on here didn't have any problems with the install (i looked into it before buying it). I was really unhappy with the kit, If i didn't cut and weld to adjust some of the bends, the kit would have been useless to me. I bought the kit with the straight out the back dumps, and the pipes fit so poorly, and i had already modified it so much, I made them into dumps that dump in front of the rear axle. I'm actually happy with the way it looks now, really clean, nothing visible, but it was a real pain

I used the Hooker kit from Summit. Driver side fit great. Passenger side didn't. Waaay off. I ended up going to a muffler shop to get it to fit right on my 71 C20.

On the flip side, I had the same Hooker kit work perfectly on my 76 Blazer. I mean Perfect.

Unless you're really strapped for cash or you've done a lot of exhaust work I'd just take it down to Joe at the Muffler Shop and get it done right for a tight fit. I bet you get a bunch of replies for this thread where the same kit fit great or like s**t on the same truck for different folks.
