1982 GMC questions.

Hello!

As I posted in the welcome area, I've got an 82 GMC short bed, and a 76 Long Bed truck. I have a few questions, so I'll list them in order.

1. Will the wing windows, and window glass on the 76 fit the 82? Both trucks have power windows.

2. I'd like to do an engine/trans swap between the trucks. The 82 has a chevy 350/TH350, and the 76 has a Pontiac 400/TH400. I'm pretty sure that the engine's bolt up in the same place, so I'll probably have to move the cross member back, and shorten the drive shaft, right?

2b. To put the 350/350 into the 76, I'm assuming that I'll move the crossmember forward, and then lengthen the first half of the drive shaft? Do I have this right, or am I backwards?

3. Will the 76 steering column work in the 82?

4. Where can I find fender badges for the 82 GMC? I can't find them aftermarket.

Thanks for looking. I hope to have pictures posted soon, but that probably won't happen until after I have the engine swap completed.

Thanks!

Britt

Re: 1982 GMC questions.

You'll also have to change the driveshaft yoke for the transmissions. The 350 has a 27-spline and the 400 has a 32-spline.

I'm still saving up for a Buick 455/4L80E swap.

Britt you are not going to have much luck finding GMC fender badges, they only really remake the Chevy stuff, you might find some on E-bay, I have an 1980 GMC and I had to repaint mine.

Re: 1982 GMC questions.

Thanks for the answers - anyone care to chime in on the glass, and column questions?
