electric choke
how should i go about wireing the choke on a 4 bbl qjet with electric choke. i just ordered one and was tring to figure it out before it got here

Wire it to a source that comes on when the key is on & go through a fuse. Actually the factory has an oil pressure switch wired in the circuit so if the key is on & the engine is not running it won't heat the choke off, but it is not nessesary.

I'd just wire it to the HEI. It hardly takes any amps to run the choke, and once the choke is closed, it isn't taking any power.

Another popular place to connect the choke wire is to the wiper motor wire, which is hot any time the key is on or in run. The choke wire feeds the coil inside the choke housing and it draws power anytime the key is on. The coil's purpose is to heat a bi-metallic spring inside the choke housing which opens the choke plate on the carburetor.

well i dont have hei but i can run it to a power soruce that only hot when key is on that i can do
