Re: Wrecked trucks
Looks like the other truck (Chevy maybe?) Was just at the right height to miss the bumper but trash the rest of the truck.

Re: Wrecked trucks
$600 to register makes sure you don't have a bunk of lookie-lou's bidding then not showing up after the auction is over.

Re: Wrecked trucks
No, the chev hit us from behind. I was in my fathers truck (the 69 seafoam green) waiting out a thunderstorm the driver of the new chev was driving down the shoulder, he seemed to be following our tail lights. No one was hurt, a few scratches and bumps but all three trucks were wrote off. We were very lucky that day.

Re: Wrecked trucks
Registration fees aren't the only way that Copart makes money. There are also buyers fees and seller fees.(percentages). If you bought the truck for $100, the buyer fees would probably be another $75-$100(minimum fee). It's a racket, but they are cornering the market on insurance salvage auctions, so they can get away with it. I bid on alot of cars/trucks for a dealer friend, and the old stuff is always high in the last few years.

Re: Wrecked trucks
Sorry about hyjacking this thread I thought it was about wrecked trucks.......
I kind of given the quick and dirty to the story already but here are few more tidbits...... The young fella who was driving the new Chev said he was doing the speed limit (60 mph .... might have been going a little faster) as he was merging onto the highway, his merge ended but contiued down the road on the shoulder collecting both my truck and my fathers truck in the collision. My dad and I were waiting out a thunderstorm in his truck as the visibility was terrible and not safe to be driving. Both mine and the new truck were totaled beyond repair, dad's was concidered a wright-off with a bent frame, box and cab damage but it was rebuilt last summer and is a beautiful truck today. No one got hurt, the driver of the new truck had a scratch on his hand. Here are a couple more pictures. The lesson learned in this accident is when you have to pull over on a highway....find a driveway don't sit on the shoulder. |

Re: Wrecked trucks
The damage on that truck is incredible, especially for walking away.

Re: Wrecked trucks
Both him and his dad were in the green truck. The way I'm reading it is the green truck was in front of the black truck and they were both sitting in the green truck. The new truck hit the black truck which hit the green truck they were in, which is now fixed
You dad's truck looks great. Someone was smiling down on you that day, that would have HURT to have been in your truck at the time. And that's also another reason why I feel "safe" in my silverado. That looks to be a hell of a hit and the guy walked away with a scratch
