What's a better setup...One v belt or two?

I have an alignment problem, my alternator sits about 1/2 inch farther back than it should since I corrected the bracket issue I had causing a serious alignment problem (alternator sits on the drivers side).

??Now, I've came to the conclusion that this truck should have been running with two belts instead of one belt...

??All it takes is adding an upper belt between the alternator and water pump and lower belt between the crank and powersteering pump??

Got any pics? What engine you using?

Not sure what you mean that it needs two belts. Most of these trucks had only one belt. If another was used it was to assist in driving something else like power steering or A/C.

I think he has power steering. I have 2 belts on my 350 with power steering. Alternator/fan belt and a belt off the crank that goes to the power steering pump. The belt for the alternator goes on the crank pulley, fan pulley to alternator. Hope this makes sense.

Fan and alternator is one belt. Power steering is another belt. A/C takes a third belt. If you are running the fan, the alternator and the power steering with one belt, you are a better man than me.

Let me carify a little. Engine 350, with power steering, No A/C...When I bought it two years ago it was a mess. Only thing I didn't change was the belt alignment. One single belt around the whole kaboom. So, I should be running two belts with power steering? One belt from fan to alternator, the lower crank to power steering pulley, correct?

Correct,
The belt running to the alternator should also go around the water pump and crank. It will be the closest to the motor then the power steering should be the closest to the fan. Or inner belt is alternator and outter is power steering.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Here is my setup on the 71. I have A/C also so it has three belts but it will be the same.
