What is it worth?

After reading other posts I don't know if this is a good idea but here it goes. I just found a 68 GMC with the most perfect grill and bumper I have personaly ever seen. Factory BB rebuilt 2000 miles ago, dealer air w/ missing A/C compressor and brackets. Cruise control with missing controller or different column. Auto tran, small leak owner says from stripped bolt on pan. 8 lug, 3/4 ton? with alum slots. Bucket seats with consol, wore out need foam and recovered. Rust in usual places. Some kind of shock and bracket mounted in the bed, shock goes through front of bed and attaches to back of cab? How rare is that? What would this truck be worth? No you can't know where it is.

money talks

I dom't know, it would be nice if you could post a picture, but it sounds pretty decent, especially the big block. Offer him $1,200, worst he could do is say no. Don't know about the "trick" shock absorber set-up, sounds like custom butchery to me. If you're a do it yourselfer it shouldn't be too hard to put it right again.I don't know how many times I've had to fix someone elses "repairs" but what the hay, being able to work on these trucks is half the reason for owning them.

Sounds interesting, Jay!

It's worth something, that's for sure. The fresh BB is a given, if built right,
and the grille, bucket seat setup is a good find too!
The LWB 3/4 ton part kinda hurts it, unless it's what you're after.
Body rust is always a consideration too.
The cruise sounds like an add-on to me, and the "shock"
contraption between the bed and cab is most likely part of the
"camper package". I've seen a few of these, and IMO they never
made good sense. Just made for more holes to fill when they are tossed.
Although, someone doing a 100 percent original truck might want them.
Can't remember if they were an option, or dealer installed item,
but what they're supposed to do is stabilize the cab when the truck had a
"pass through window" and a big camper on it.
A novelty, but, they don't make enough difference to cut a truck up for. JMHO!
Good luck with it if you decide to buy.
And let up take a peek, when you do!
Mike

thanks for the info. the glove box door wasn't on the truck when I looked at it. Owner may have it somewhere. Would really be sweet if it still has the option sticker. Cruise control looked original to me. He was at work and I'll look and take some pics when he gets off. He did do a crappy driveway paint job on it last summer. I just hope the same guy didn't rebuild the engine.
