hello from new zealand
hi,my names mark and i have been lurking for awhile and have now purchased a chev pikumup.its a 1969 C10 stepside with a 292 6cylinder and 4speed manual and a 12bolt posie diff.
its had one american owner from knoxville , tennessee and i'm the next.it appears to be deadstock original and we had to put new exhaust, new brake shoes and cylinders and hoses, change the headlites and windscreen blades and it is now legal here. its a cool truck to drive and plans are for legal towbar, new shocks, and replace a few broken bits. it has a 4.11 diff ratio so will look at changing that to a more driving friendly ratio-3.55 or similar.also the little lady wants to have pwrstrg but i'll have to think about that. longterm plans are too put a 283 in front of the 4spd and change to front discs and lower it abit. |

Re: hello from new zealand
Welcome to a bad habit.... lol. It's all good to spend money on old iron. I am wondering 2 things.... why you 69 is wearing a 71 or 72 nose/grill and what the heck is a "legal towbar" Is that like a towing hitch on the back bumper to to a trailer? Please translate that into american english for us, otherwise we will just sit here confused.

Re: hello from new zealand
the back bumper towbar/hitch?? is illegal here because of the way it was attached to chassis rails so i'll build a better looking one and bolt it to chassis rails using triangulated mounting brackets and also have to get a certified welder to do the final welds.good spotting on the front sheetmetal.i see now the passenger fender and front grill area has blue paint under the cream while the drivers fender is green like the rest of the truck originally was.most have had a crash at some stage?? i also now think my 292 is a 250 as i did a search and it seems the 292 has the fuelpump behind the passenger motor mount and mine is in front.the clovebox id sticker says 292 and its badged 292 so i'll tell everyone i've got the "bigblock inline 6".lol |

Re: hello from new zealand
Actually, there are a few people on this board from New Zealand that report in regularly - we also have a fair amount of Aussies and Canadians, and even some folks from Europe. It's a pretty cool site and I hope you stay around for a while and post lots of pictures of your truck driving through your beautiful country.
