dumb question,plug wires

A friend of mine has a 4cylinder 95 gmc sonoma and he wants to put some msd wires on,How do you change the plug wires?I'm following the wires from the plugs and it looks like they go into the firewall. Is the distributor in the engine compartment or under the dash? Thanks

2.2L? Wires are fun on these

The coil packs are located on the right side of the engine (passengers side) under the intake manifold. They are bolted to the block just above the starter. The wires route through #2 and #3 intake runner then up over the valve cover. Once you get started its not too bad but they are a PITA.
Mark you wires and do them one at a time! It's tough to see the numbers on the coil packs if you forget where the wires go.
