Another UPDATE:

Well, being parked since early last December, I drove me truck out of the garage last night around 9:00pm. So far, everything seems to be just fine with it. No funny noises or anything. I just need to get used to the new 4spd shifter, it's alot different than my old one. And, the clutch is a little stiff. Other than that, I'm glad to have it back on the road.

While it was down, it got some other new goodies as well. New Optima battery (1050 cca), battery cables, remote solenoid, u-joints, and other misc. parts that were needed.

I'll take pics when the weather breaks..........

Rob

Good deal Pont, you're way ahead of me. It'll be another month before mine rolls again. I just got a red top Optima for the stepside too. Hoping that and a 100 amp alt will be enough for this new stereo. Guages will be on their way soon too I hope.

Sounds good Rob. Hopefully all that work will continue to pay off down the road as you put some miles on that new set-up.
In reference to funny noises:
Strange thing about the motor transplant I did in December is that my old motor ran real quiet but was extremely tired. The new motor I built has always felt 3-4 times stronger but after driving it a day an odd noise developed in the front of the motor that I was never able to track down. Sounded like a lifter but it wasn't a lifter. It ran good so I just drove it with the noise. Last weekend I used the truck to pull a large overloaded trailer of manure up over a long steep hill at my brothers place. 1st gear and held it down the whole way to the top. This was the first time I have ever put a real actual strain on the drivetrain since the rebuild. Since that trip up over the hill the noise has been totally gone.
Lesson Learned: If it starts making a little noise it just needs to be pushed a harder to seat in all those new parts.

Randy, I need pics! Keep us updated on your mods and progress, that way I'll know how far behind you I am.

George, I totally like your way of thinking! I can relate........

Mark, I'm glad to be back on the road too! We need to be updated with your progress also. I think I'm more anxious for your big block install than you are! Is that possible?

I'm pretty anxious! I think my kids have made me be patient cause I know thinks don't get done as soon as I want them to be. Got the bellhousing cleaned and painted last night, got the clutch diaphram cleaned up and some brackets and the power steering parts painted. Next time I go out I will install the flywheel and clutch and be ready for a test fit. That should happen Monday night or Tuesday night. My buddy is hopefully (cross your fingers) gonna be able to do my rust welding repairs at the end of this week! Then I can start putting her back together. Anxious? YEP!

One of the best feelings you can get(with your clothes on) is the first time you drive your truck after a rebuild. Unless you do it naked.
