sensor

i have what looks like a temperature sensor in my radiator that's hooked up to a wire and i have what looks to be a temperature sensor on the driver side of my block (sbc400) its a little above but in between the first 2 spark plugs with a wire also hooked up too it what do these sensor do and if they both are temperature sensors then witch one is the best to hook into

Don't know about the one in the radiator, but the one by the spark plugs runs the guage or dummy light.

now is this the coolant temp engine temp or oil temp

nope but the radiator did come out of a diesel

the one on the radiator isn't a temp sensor... it was used in the diesels to set off a "low coolant" light...if you are looking for a temp sensor on a gas motor you should either look on the intake to the driverside of the thermostat housing, or look on the driverside head between the first and second cylinder. it will have one wire going to it...
