Question about Keyless Entry

I just bought an 02 GMC Seirra XLT 4x4 at a wrecked car auction. I'm was wondering if there is anyway I can check the truck to see if it ever had keyless entry or a security system? All i got with the truck is a single key and no fob. It seems this truck is pretty loaded and was just wondering where I would look to be able to tell if it has keyless entry. If it does, where could I get some fobs and get them programed? Any suggestions????

Thanks,

Steven

Re: Question about Keyless Entry

You can buy the fobs on eBay all day long. Not sure how to determine if it has the remote feature.

Re: Question about Keyless Entry

Close all the doors, press and hold the unlock button, insert the ignition key and turn it ON, OFF, ON, OFF, then release the lock button and the doors should lock then unlock if it has keyless entry and the vehicle will now be in programing mode to program a key fob untill you cycle the key on and off again. To program a fob press and hol the lock and unlock buttons on the fob till the locks cycle and the horn honks.

You can also look at the SPID label inside the glove box for RPO code: AU0 - KEYLESS REMOTE DOOR LOCK

Re: Question about Keyless Entry

I was told all trucks came with the solenoids(?) installed for KE but when I bought the fob it would not program.
Best guess was since my truck is a "WorkTruck" and they are pretty stripped it didn't come with it.
If what they told me was anywhere near true and your truck is pretty loaded it probably has them.

The fob was only like $40 from the dealer. If you buy it and they can't program it they will refund your money, at least they did for me.
Buy them from E-scam and your stuck with them.
