When it rains in the Carolinas...
Yup, another new subscriber in North Carolina.
I bought mine two weeks ago, not the first Chevy i've had but i am normally one of those "underdog" types that have stuck with either the 3rd member of the Big 3, or defunct brands like Oldsmobile and STUDEBAKERS!!! I was a graphic artist, wih my own studio, for many years and working on street rods as a hobby or helping out local racers...never was happy because I had wanted to design cars not artwork for the tv studios. I decided I'd be happier for the second half of my life out here trying to get into racing as a second career, and I've been trying for a while. this one si going to be my "Shop truck" and have some duties as a mule, learning a few things about the trailing arm rear suspension--and keeping the investment low!!! As Ipost this I have my carb torn down with points and regualr tune-up stuff in front of me just waiting for the rain to subside so i can put it all under the hood. Next task on a dry day will be to track down why the brake and head lights don't work, but the park lights do--the person I bought it from had the column apart and while it has a turn signal switch I don't think this was originally a signal-equipped truck, which I will check against the wiring diagrams I already found thanks to the helpful people on this board! I usually wait a few months, "lurking" before my first post on a board, but everyone here looks like the kind of people I've come to know through street rodding...I think I can find a place here.

Re: When it rains in the Carolinas...
I've been looking for the sort of gatherings that are listed there, for a long time!
I found "Punchy's" by mistake one night, since it's not a formal scheduled cruise event but basically where cruisers go for a burger before cruising...learned about Oakboro the month before I bought the truck IN Oakboro, told the PO I'd likely make it to that April event...and the Brewster's ice Cream shops all seem to split a night during the week to host something but the turnout is small. If I ever hear about another turnout at Birkdale Village ahead of time I'll add it to the list! Thanks! To everyone!
