Door panel confusion
Ok heres another dumb one for ya. When I look at the venders sites for door panels they usually offer steel or vinyl. Now my truck has vinyl or plastic whatever it is, with a steel rusted out brace behind it. When you buy the ones that are steel do they eliminate that steel backing mine has or what?

Does your existing panels have the vinyl covering on them now?. Or do you have a stock steel panel?. You can buy an ABS plastic replacement or a steel replacement. You can also buy the vinyl cover that attaches to your steel panel. If you want custom door panels, I make these for our year trucks. ........Jim

Steven,
Some of the early bare-bones trucks would use just the metal backing with no vinyl attached as the panel and just paint to match the trucks interior. Here is what I have seen. The original ones had vinyl covering a metal backing plate. Some of the repo ones they have now have plastic backing instead of metal. I have been told by vendors that you do not won't to use these. This is just my opinion of what to do What you probably need is two new metal panels and the vinyl kits to cover them. With some good adheasive and a little time they will look like new.You might as well count a screw kit and escutheon's (donuts under the handles) and arm rests will add a nice touch there is also a foam strip that seals the metal to the doors. You might be able to find a set of used metal door panels in good shape locally but they are very prone to rust. Have fun

Thank you very much I was definetly confused LOL. I have vinyl covering over metal backing plate and both are shot. I will probally try to stay pretty stock, as I like that look, but if I go custom I will keep you in mind Jim.
Thx again
