Did Our era trucks come with a tach standard if the truck was a big bock with an auto trans?

no, optional.

tach was not standard on any engine/trans combo, nor with any option package. (talking 10 - 30 c&k trucks)

well I pulled an ac equipped dash harness out of a 68 with a big block and auto trans. is there a certain wire or pigtail in the guage plug in that I can look for to tell me if this truck had a tach or not?

The tach had its own harness. It will have 2 wires in it. One pink and the other brown. The pink wire goes to the fuse panel and the brown one went out to the coil. WES
