Finished up a project today.....

Well... I got around to installing that b&m shift kit today. I was really happy to find out that there were no shavings and hardly any sludge in the tranny pan when I pulled it. I even avoided the dreaded red bath lol! Does anyone else have a b&m street/strip kit in their truck? If so, have you had any long term negative effects?

i installed one in my 84 scottsdale 700r4 trans. i did the full strip kit install, thats were i made my mistake. the truck has about 350h.p. and close to 400f.tq . too make a long story short, about 7 miles after install i got on it, i mean really on it. blew the rear ring gear in half. lucky for me that these trans are a dime a dozen in the junk yards. 200$ replacement trans and it was back on the road. with out the shift kit!!

i should have mentioned the reason that happened was because those trans aint supposed to have that much motor in front of them. had one on my 70 chevelle 350t.hd only installed the rv kit in it, had no problems with that. just the 700r4 is a slushbox!!!!!!

I installed a B&M street/strip kit a few months ago also, but haven't really had the chance to test it out much yet. Are you running Type F fluid with yours also?

Which kit is this? The one where you have to drill in the valve body?

I've got to drop the trans pan in the near future to do a filter change. Do you think it might be worthwhile to put one of these kits in while I'm in there? This is a TH350 behind an I6 250, 1bbl stocker.

I had the tranny guy install mine...200.00 . and I had him check out all of the internals..Im really impressed by the kit..it shifts dead hard at full throttle, but not so hard under part throttle

Mooneyes4b, I don't know about doing it again to get a red bath! I'm lucky my tranny pan came with a drain plug.

Jeffbo, I put type F fluid in it. I had over a gallon of the stuff sitting in the garage.

XXL, Yes it is the kit that you have to drill but, the kit comes with a new plate to drill. I drove it around for a while tonight and like bigjimz said it shifts hard at full throttle and pretty smooth part throttle. I can't really recomend it yet since i've only had it in for a day now but, so far I really like it.

When I converted my 4x4 to a th350 I handed a local, well respected tranny shop the th350 and a B&M shift kit. I didn't open the kit but the box said street or towing. I told the guy my truck is pulling something 90% of the time it is running. Please set up the transmission for that.

So far so good.

Every th350 I've ever owned (4) has had a drain plug in the pan from the factory.
