Automatic Trans ?

There's a vacuum line that runs from the intake manifold down to the pass side of the tranny. What is this for and does it effect the shifting?

yes it goes to the modulator which is located tword the rear of the tranny on the righthand side near the tailshaft and it controls the shifting of the tranny
