exhaust smell
On my 82 c10 my exhaust smells. I am having a hard time explaining it cause its not a rich or lean smell. Never owned a car with a catalytic converter before but I know they can clog so I was wondering if mine needs replaced?

Re: exhaust smell
A bad cat generally smells like rotten eggs. I'd be under the truck and going through the entire exhaust system with a fine-tooth comb, looking for any and all leaks. Have you noticed any loss of power, especially under hard acceleration?

Re: exhaust smell
when the cat goes bad alot of times either the cat or the pipe directly before it will heat up red hot.. A bad alternator that is overcharging can also smell like rotten eggs
also if you either ran over a critter and knocked parts of it onto the cat or a critter crawled onto your exhaust and died , that can smell wonderful also, as will plastic that landed on the cat

Re: exhaust smell
Well I crawled under and do not see any leaks or signs off exhaust issues. Y pipe looks darkish though. Since I just bought it a week ago its hard to say a loss of power or not.
