Re: How long do you hold a part for someone before you just re sell it??

i could not refund anything storeage fees for 5 years would be enough not to warrant a refund in the eyes of the laws you could have sold it a long time ago

Re: How long do you hold a part for someone before you just re sell it??

He prolly figures you sold it a long time ago and cut his loses.I bet he doesn`t even have the Blazer anymore.
Years ago,I was renting the barns on a farm for my business and truck playing. It got sold and I moved everything out but the top to my old green`71 Blazer because it was a load in itself.I went back the day after my deadline around lunchtime and the barn it was in was already leveled.Oh well...

Re: How long do you hold a part for someone before you just re sell it??

my 2 cents
I would abide by the original oral agreement if it was a day, week, month, etc... not a day longer resell just for your pain and agony. I too would of sold it 4 1/2 years ago. you know they say theres no free lunch or storage! lol rc

Re: How long do you hold a part for someone before you just re sell it??

Randy, if its alright with you I will be out this weekend.........................To drop of a few things I need you to store for me !! LOL

Sell it, and if he calls tell him to leave you alone and You will waive the $5.00 a day fee he owes you for storage. 1825 days x 5.00 = 9,125.00

Re: How long do you hold a part for someone before you just re sell it??

I would hold it for the agreed time up front after that it will be re-sold.

I have a story about something similar at a much higher amount of money, my friend sold his speed boat for 35k dollars last year in July he got the money wire transferred from the buyer from the Bahamas the buyer told him to hold it till October that he was flying to miami then cruising the boat back to the bahamas to this day he has never heard back from the guy and he still has the boat in his shop with the title. We were riding motorcycles this past weekend and coincidently he asked me what he should do I told him to try to contact the guy he had already tried with no luck so now he has a free boat.

It's on the back of his Dodge pickup, somewhere in the southwestern USA.

I have seen it personally.

Re: How long do you hold a part for someone before you just re sell it??

Some of you are TOO FUNNY!!!!!!!!
Last time I talked to him he said he had some PC problems, but that was 3 years ago. He knows where I am, I've been on here ALOT since 2001.
I've decided to put it up for sale on the parts board, I'll get some pics of it Fri after work and get it listed. I need to get it out of my cousins place before he hauls it off.
Thanks Randy

My cousin, Jerry Jones, has somewheres around 1/3 acre, which ain't too bad for a "city lot" around here.
If I, or somebody else, needs something stashed for a bit; guess where it goes.

I'm sure as hell not "volunteering" him; I'm just saying where I go to store sh........, ummmmmm, stuff for a while.

Re: How long do you hold a part for someone before you just re sell it??

Hi Randy

And I thought my stuff being there 4 to 6 months was bad but I was trying to purchase more to make the trip more efficient back when my diesel was $5 bucks a gallon. Better not let others know you will hold it for 5 years for nothing or you will have a town full of trucks and parts sitting. Plus they may make a killing on the inflation and no storage fees.

I think you need to have a disclosure on your parts ad that says " All parts and vehicles must be removed 30 days after full payment unless prior arrangements are made." And then I would have to say how long before they are resold or removed without further contact or plan to have them picked up.

You are just too nice buddy.

Mark

Randy,
I need a small block alternator bracket. I'll be over to pick it up around 2014. Is that okay?!

Re: How long do you hold a part for someone before you just re sell it??

A guy I useto work with brought his car here to work on about 16 years ago.He said he would pay me to do some welding on it.I did the work about $250 bucks worth. Then I didn't work for that company any more and lost touch with the guy and didnt see or hear from him for almost 10 years. That car sat in my yard all that time till about 6 years ago when a guy called and said he was buying that car from my former friend and wanted to come pick it up.When he told me he was only paying $400 I decided that since the owner owed me $250 for the welding he could just give me the car for the extra $150 since I had babysat the stupid thing for 10 years. The guy that was going to buy it never called again and I heard he went to jail for being a perv to little kids.I sold it about 5 years ago now and havent heard from either one again yet. No guilt
