broke my rear axle so got a few ?
ok my truck is a 1986 c 10 after blowing the motor after 230,000 miles on the motor truck has 250,000. the rear was stock 3.08.
My first ? is this what years and what models can a new rear come out of like vans are those the same and so on. my next one was for fun actually i have a 79 one ton with a real nice 14 bolt but i really like my 5 lug so what would i have to do to make a 8 lug a 5. once again this is for fun i might not even try. one idea was to knock out the studs weld holes closed drill new holes and put in the correct studs. i know dumb idea but just curious

Quote:
As far as converting 8 lug to 5 it could be done but the hub would be too big for most 5 lug wheels.

What 14 bolt do you have? Doesn't it have a center bearing hub?
My guess is the brake drum might be to big as well. Sell that 14 bolt and buy you a 10 or 12.
