Busted Windshield
Yeah, the blazer took a hit because I broke the cardnal rule of winching and didn't put anything over the cable while pulling.
Even so, it's good to find uses for the off road ride around the house. ![]() I was in the truck but in my "just in case" position tucked behind the roll cage when it let loose. Moral here is always obey the rules EVERY time, no matter what. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Re: Busted Windshield
Pride didn't suffer any and all other precaution's were taken, glass was already broken anyway.
No one would of gotten hurt, caution is never thrown out the window when winching but a real reminder once in awhile definitely keeps ya on your toes. Thanks, there's pics & info on the board somewhere and also a thread about it over on CK5. Here's the basic's of it, if you want more feel free to pm. |

Re: Busted Windshield
Looks like a case of "Might As Well" to me.....
As in, might as well buy some synthetic winch rope!! Lighter, and no stored energy...about the same price as a new windshield too. Could be a good investment, and it might save your life (or someone else's) next time around. -RH

New winch line will cost big bucks, if I had followed the 'covered cable' rule it would of never happened, have a windshield or two here so no biggy. Extreme care when winching is always priority one, this was merely posted to get guys to remember to 'never let your guard down' even when it's in your own backyard. Lives were never at stake even with this mishap, mine nor my wife's. ![]() |
