shifter issue

My 72 C10 was in storage all winter now it is getting impossible to get it out of park It is auto on the column if I take a screwdriver and pop the lever under the hood on the column everything works fine until I put it back in park and then it won't come out again any ideas?

Re: shifter issue

it's probably the shifter tube in the column jamming up, they are kinda known for that. You can try spraying some penitrating oil in through the shift lever hole, and work the shifter back and forth. It probably needs pulled, taken apart and cleaned/lubed properly though. Very poor design
