pwr locks and windows
in my 84 burban, one of the doors was replaced in the past sometime. The rear passenger door is the one I'm referring to. The truck is all power, but the door that was put on, is not. It's a PITA locking that door, and I can't roll down the window because the manual gear is stripped out.
How hard is it going to be to convert this door to a power window/lock door? I don't want to buy another door because I don't want to have a mismatched truck. The paintjob on it now is very nice and my wife would kill me if I put a door on there with another color. I'm just trying to find out how big of a job I'm talking about here. Should I get a donor door from a junk yard, or would it be more wise to buy an aftermarket system for this door. The rest of the doors are fine, so I don't even know if they make a kit for just one door. Thx, Dave

definately just get the guts from a donor door, it will all bolt up fine.. sounds like you might have to modify the wiring harness a bit, depending on what they did when they replaced the door. and you will have to cut a hole in the door for the wiring harness to come in, and find a boot to cover the wires but I think thats it. You could probably find the guts on ebay pretty easy, or someone around here probably has a spare power setup they'd be willing to part with.
got any pics of the burb? mike |

Thanks for the advice. I would have pics, if they didn't take my old truck. it had my digicam in it when it was stolen.
I was stationed up in Oceanside (Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton) for about a year and just left there last July. I went to Microskills in S.D. for quite a while too. |
