Re: '99 Blazer Facelift
.....thats great bird!! Ive been a little lazy on it. I need to pull the wiring out of my 'burb for the stereo and its not something I want to tackle. I did it in a security console for a jeep and I may have to remove the whole thing.
What are you doing over here anyway???????

Re: '99 Blazer Facelift
Hey bird!!! Timely post, as today I got my tires mounted and finished polishing up one wheel. Turned out pretty good, too. I finally sanded it with 600 and put some Mothers polish on it. The other three wheels are all sanded, but not polished with the Mothers yet.......ran out of gas on it.
I need to get some lugs and I'll have them mounted up soon. No updates on the stereo box yet.....still have to make the harness. Im going to do that soon, cuz I need to finish this set of projects.

Re: '99 Blazer Facelift
Ok, minor update with no pics.......I made my 2' stereo harness today. I will try to get the stereo safe installed this week. The IROC wheels were trial fit and I hated the rear backspace. I tried spacing it and it still looked funny. The fronts look great on the rear and the rears hit the tie rod in the front. I also picked up a bunch of lowering parts for el cheepo and have all kinds of stuff to try out.
I found the answer to my earlier question about the Blazer spindles. You can use dropped spindles but have to completely convert to single puck calipers, backing plates, rotors, and ABS sensors. Its not hard but more work than the usual suspension swap. The sensors just plug in, by the way.

Re: '99 Blazer Facelift
Here are a couple pics for updates......made a harness extension. You can also see the holes drilled for mounting the stereo safe. A pic of the radio test run....the station was playing some Maiden when I tuned in

Re: '99 Blazer Facelift
Finished up the stereo box today and played the first tunes Ive had in years. It'll be nice to not listen to plastic rattle around. Heres the pics...bolted box down to floor....installed stereo sleeve. Plugged in the stereo and popped that into place. Fit the console in place by sawing off the tray, then removed to clean. Last two pics are the cover in place from the front and side.
Probably would have done this a little different, but I was winging it. I would have made it a little taller, but I am basically happy with it.

Re: '99 Blazer Facelift
Cool man. I was thinking about doing something like that for mine. Like a shifter houseing with drink holders. How do the new wheels look on the blazer?

Re: '99 Blazer Facelift
I havent put them on yet. I did a trial fit and they go on, but the factory gave the rears a 16mm offset. Not sure why, but when you put them on a truck it looks really sucked in back there; not my favorite look. Im still deciding what I want to do....Id like to run the rears on the front, but they hit the tie rod with a 1/4'' spacer. I may be lowering the truck a little more too. We'll see........thanx for checking out the thread Jason.

Re: '99 Blazer Facelift
What happens when you put the spacer on the back?
I figured the s10 board could use some thread jacking. |

Re: '99 Blazer Facelift
I tried it and it just didnt do it for me.....I need about an inch. Hell, I would put a 1/2'' in there but you run out of stud length. The backspace is 4+1/2''on the front IROCs and 5+1/8 on the rear. The fronts look killer on the rear of the Blazer. I guess I need to find some more to get all fronts.

Re: '99 Blazer Facelift
Right on bird.......I also filled the hole in the dash with some plastic. Its the stuff that stereo places use to fill gaps and make mounts for speeks and such. I just sanded the back of the dash and cut a piece .....superglued it to the dash. I think it will hold but we'll see. If not I can fiber-resin it in or something along those lines.

Re: '99 Blazer Facelift
Look at the 3rd pic down 68C15....I had it in and took it out to clean it. I sawed off the 'tray' that was in the front and left the drink holders. So far the whole set-up is working very well.
