Question What shocks are you running ?

I am investigating bilstien 5100 series shocks. I am running a 4"or 5" lift. Post your experiences and what shocks are you running? I do mild off roading, mostly sand dunes.
Thanks

Re: What shocks are you running ?

I have never tried the bilstiens. I've heard they are a little stiff. I usually run the rancho rsx 9000's. The adjustable ones are best.

Re: What shocks are you running ?

The best shocks I`ve run are the Rancho RSX9000s,beause they are adjustable.I think gas shocks ride pretty stiff and the whole benefit to gas is less fade on washboard/continuous rapid cycling, such as off road racing.I really liked the Superlift hydro shocks I ran on my`84.It rode well loaded or empty.

I vote Rancho 9000's also. Those Bilstiens look good.

Re: What shocks are you running ?

I have the 5100 new in the box ready to install. I am waiting on my springs. I'll let you know how they turn out. I currently have bilstien HD's on my truck now with stock springs and am not real happy with the ride. Bilstien currently has a buy three get one free deal. I got 4 5100's for $227 shipped from Shockwarehouse.com

Re: What shocks are you running ?

on my rock crawler, i have two rancho 9000s in the back and two bils 5125s in the front. the bils are very stiff but do feel better at speed soaking up bumps. the bils seem comparable to the ranchos at level 5, but i never take the ranchos out of the 1st setting. at setting one i don't notice my unbalanced rear tires bouncing around. i wish i had two more ranchos for the front. the bils do look a lot better though, too bad that's not what i'm into anymore.

I'm also looking for new shocks, I'll be watching.

Re: What shocks are you running ?

I am running Bilstiens on all 4 corners of my Durango. I forget the model, but they do not have the external tank.

I could warn you that Bilstiens are shipped extended. I had to use a jack to push the shocks into place. At 360 psi, I couldn't even begin to collapse them by hand.

Oh yea, I love them!

Re: What shocks are you running ?

I wont go back from Bilsteins.

i used 5150's for a while and went to 7100, and they both depend on the aplication, thats why they have a valve chart, if you get the right valving and get soft from the use then you will probably need to recharge them with gas.

P.S.

It all depends on the crappy store that ships them, i got mine from the factory and they came collapsed
