Tubes For Slicks

What kind of tubes are yall running in your slicks. I really need to get a new set of slicks because the ones I have are old as dirt and won't hold air more than 3 days. But I dont have the money for new ones so putting tubes in what I get seems like the best answer for now. Was looking on Summit and all of the Mickey Thompson and M/H tubes run about $65 a piece. Would it be alright to run a regular tire shop tube? The slicks are Mickey Thompson 28x10.50 15's if that makes a difference. Thanks. Chris.

71 c-10 lwb, in the middle of frame off restoration.

69 c-10 swb, drag truck, 406 sbc, balanced, comp 292 cam, ported, polished, gasket matched, and bowl blended pro comp 210cc heads, 2.02/1.60 ferrea valves,1.6 roller rockers, re curved hei with msd 6al box, 2-step rev limter, accel 300+ wires, ported victor jr intake, holley 750 double pumper carb, dynomax 1 5/8 headers, 4 spd munci m-20 with super case and iron midplate, mr. gasket vertigate shifter, 5.38 pro gears with full spool, 33 spline moser axles and c-clip elimators, line-loc, 5 gal fuel cell, holley blue pump.
7.807 @ 88.37mph 1.60 60FT

80 g-20 van, tow rig, cammed 305, th350, 10 bolt

88 jeep wrangler, dd, 258, ax-15 swap, 4.5" lift, 33x12.50's, lockers, 3.55's

I have ran Hoosier tires seems like forever, but IMO there is only ONE tube for slicks,, Mickey Thompson! The tubes in the slicks on the truck are neatly 15 years old, have seen 4,,, or maybe 5 sets of slicks, a thousand passes at teh track and every bit of 10,000 - 20,000 street miles. They still hold air like the day they were new.

And just an opinion,, I run tubes in everything, even the slicks on the Nova. It's impossible to dial a car that has inconsistant air pressure in the tires,, and that extra 6 or 7 pounds of unsprung weight is nothing. I think you'll be happy with the scenario of checking the tires before the first lap, and not having to worry about how much air they have lost between rounds!

I've purchased tubes in the past from stores that deal in tractor and

equipment tires. About half of the price of Mickey's. It's been several years

but it won't cost you anything to investigate.

I was running 32x15x14.5 Good Luck/Save a Buck

We ran tubes for years in the '67. Bought tires last year and decided to not run tubes. Air pressure stays for about 3-4 weeks without falling off and these are mounted on Cragar Super Tricks from the early 80's. IMO, just buy new or new to you slicks and ditch the tubes, just one less thing to worry about...

None ! If you have any throw them away . If you ruin one you are done for the day . If you run tubeless you can put a plugn in it and keep racing . Also its worth ET to run tubeless becuase you get rid off about 15lbs of rotating weight .

If you do run tubes make sure you get something like the M/T that have the nut on the valve stem otherwise you could slip the valve stem, and make sure you put baby powder inside the tire to keep the tube from sticking. I personally would'nt run em.

Well, ran them this weekend without tubes, just had to keep a check the air pressure between. Thanks for the advice yall. Chris.

using slicks do u have the wheels screwed and guess u never had a tube wad up in tire. thats what ive heard so i took mine out.
