Interior Questions

I'm new, just curious if anyone has put a more modern JL Audio Stealthbox console subwoofer in a 69-72 Blazer as a replacement for the OEM center console?

Attached is a pic of my new toy recently acquired:

Here is a better pic of a Jeep Wranger version installed-

I would love one, except for the $900 price tag...

Re: Interior Questions

It is a 70! I have a set of body mounts, poly spring bushings and Bilsteins all sitting in the garage. The body mounts all look original as do the spring bushings... once I weld up the broken upper shock mount in the rear it should handle like a new truck.

Re: Interior Questions

Welcome to the board from Seattle. Nice looking Blazer.

I've never seen or heard of the JL Audio Stealthbox, but it looks like a good console alternative. I'd find the dimensions to make sure you have the width before dropping the $574.99 list price. Does it have an amp in it?

Re: Interior Questions

No... no amp at that price.... Sub in a box only. I had one in a Grand Cherokee several years ago and it was GREAT, their niche is taking advantage of nooks/crannies in vehicles to make use of space for subwoofers- I really liked the idea of one in my Blazer because it would be "stealthy" in a console, and I could tac-weld the nuts on the mount bolts on the underside of the body to deter theft.

Re: Interior Questions

George F what about putting an 8"w7 jl in the factory console? I have a set of JL components in the back of my Blazer, and have been thinking about a sub. I think you have come up with the perfect solution. The stock console is plenty big. an 8" an amp or two under the seats, components in the rear, and in the kickpanel area. Just think how good your favorite music will sound OVER the noisy crap coming from the young rapper next to you. the look on his face while he gets to listen to David Alan Coe at volume would be priceless!

Re: Interior Questions

Honestly, I had to look up who David Allen Coe is (was?)... I just like driving with the top down on the highway with the tunes going- although I am more likely to be playing Social Distortion or The Strokes

Given some of the other issues I have found on the Blazer, the stereo is going to be way down the list, but someday...

Ditto.

I have my head unit and a 6-disc changer hidden in my console. I mounted it similar to this photo (but this isn't mine)
