My truck's almost done! I need some opinions..
Here's what I started with in 06. And then where I'm currently at.. And, in the last two pic I could use some input... sorry for the poor pics. I spent too much money on the truck to buy a good camera....
I found a third brake light/cargo light from an 08 Silverado. What would it look like mounted on my cab? Too much? I also found these center caps off a newer truck. Will they look ok on my wheels?

Looks great Travis. It's come a long way in a short time. I prefer the smaller original cargo lamp myself but the late model doesn't look bad. And the center caps look just fine on the rallys. Matter of fact I prefer them over the larger rally caps.

Truck looks great. Like the caps, not crazy about the brake light.

I agree, get an original cargo lamp, but the center caps look great. Those caps are the ones most people look for.

Caps will look great, I've got them on mine. I agree with everyone else on the brake light.

I'm with everyone else...don't care for the brake light, but like the center caps. The light to me just looks out of proportion with the cab (too big).

I love the 3rd brake light...looks great. I have always preferred the smaller caps on the wheels...had them on mine before I went custom on the wheels. Your truck looks good!

Re: My truck's almost done! I need some opinions..
I am going to join the crowd...good caps, not so good light But it's what you like and it's nice to see other parts utilized. I was considering a flush mounted LED strip back there if I ever put one...nice clean look and still functional.

I'll go along and say yes on the caps, and no on the light. Truck looks Great!

Looking great! I don`t put government mandated things on my old trucks. In this case it`s don`t keep up with the jones'.
mosy guys don`t want a cargo lamp on a clean semi-custom anyway.Kinda falls into the functional mirror catagory. They get by with less for a clean look.

Re: My truck's almost done! I need some opinions..
Thanks all!! That's exactly what I thought too about the light, so maybe I'll put it on my bicycle instead. Oh, actually I'm going to build a cool wagon for swap meet adventures. It would look cool on the back of it! I had always wanted to do the flush mounted LED strip like VA72C10 suggested, but I found this light for $5 and thought I'd toy with that idea. On the ride height, I cut one coil in the front and went with 4" drop coils in the rear. Eventually I want to go with spindles and probably blocks in the rear to bring it down more.

Re: My truck's almost done! I need some opinions..
Nice truck. I like the step side conversion.
I converted the original cargo light on my '71 to a third brake light, but i like yours better. I'm going to steal your idea when i rebuild the truck. |
