They look great now....give them about a year. The rivets on the mirror head will rust, and the mirrors will not stay in place after a while. NOS sport mirrors are out of production and outrageously priced IMO. They are better than the repros, but $300 for a set?! The finish will hold up much longer, but they are still small and essentially worthless for seeing behind you.

If you want form, get sport mirrors....if you want function, keep the original hardware set-up and just get some smaller mirror heads to attach to it...that way you won't have the Dumbo ears, but still have a large enough/supported mirror that will serve its purpose.

Its not a daily driver, more of a weekend cruiser/grocery getter and never sees rain or winters. They should last....Besides for the $50 I paid for them I could replace them a few times for the price of NOS.

I agree, $50 is a lot better. But I live in So Calif, where it never rains, 100 degrees 9 months out of the year, and I garage my truck. The re-pops still rust and come loose. But I would buy them over $300 NOS any day.

OMG! It's true! After just under two weeks of Oregon rain, the rivets and pivot have already started to rust! That's craptastic!!!

Re: Correct Outside Mirrors? 1969

As stated earlier the sport mirrors were the standard mirror for 70-72, the round were standard in 69, but I have seen a square head on the round base as well which is a little bigger and offered a better look. The below- eyeline is the 6x10 or what ever dimension you have as original on your truck and are getting hard to locate, mostly because people swap them for "sport mirrors"- I am not the exception, my 71 came with the same mirrors which quickly found their way to my lil bros 3/4 ton.

Re: Correct Outside Mirrors? 1969

I like the look of the sport mirrors, and I see fine with them. I don't plan on doing any towing or camper hauling, but I'm not kidding! The repop sport mirror has been out of it's box and on my driver's door for exactly two weeks now and the rivets and pivot are already showing rust! No telling how long it will last in this wet climate!

Re: Correct Outside Mirrors? 1969

I've had two set of those mirrors on my truck and both were rusted within a month.
